About the Canadian Friends of the Lebanon Mountain Trail (CFLMT)
The CFLMT promotes educational programs, environmental protection, natural and cultural heritage conservation, peacebuilding, and sustainable economic development along the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT), a hiking trail in Lebanon managed by the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA).
The LMTA has been working since 2007 to make the LMT a world-class destination for outdoor and responsible tourism, to have it protected through concerted efforts by the Government of Lebanon, municipalities, and local communities, and to have it recognized by international organizations as an important natural corridor. You can visit the LMTA website here.
Here in Canada, as members of the CFLMT, we intend to work towards strengthening ties between the nearly 80 communities along the LMT and Lebanese Canadians, Canadian hikers, and friends of Lebanon. We encourage you to visit Lebanon, walk on the LMT, and discover or re-discover the unique natural and cultural heritage of the mountains of Lebanon.
CFLMT promotes awareness of the LMT and provides financial and technical support for the protection, maintenance, and promotion of the trail. The CFLMT will provide funds, at the discretion of its executive committee, to approved charitable organizations in Lebanon who have demonstrated an ability to implement programs and events that will further the purpose of the CFLMT.
